Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day – Last Sunday of October

NT Grandparents Day celebrates and recognises Grandparents, grand-friends, kin and those who take on the role of a grandparent in their family or community.

NT Grandparents Day was initially part of a three-year project (2021-2023) for COTA NT working in partnership with Territory Families, Housing and Communities (with support from the Department of Education). The observance and popular movie morning events specifically for grandies has been continued by COTA NT through the sponsorship of Territory Families, Housing and Communities and participating cinemas, BCC Casuarina, Event Cinemas Palmerston, Alice Springs Cinema and Katherine Cinema 3.

 The aims of activities are:

  • to raise awareness of the day and recognise and celebrate the role of grandparents and older members of NT communities
  • to provide Territorians with easy access to a free Community Resources Kit including event planner, promotional material and calendar.
