COTA NT (also known as Council on the Ageing NT) is the peak body for Seniors in the Northern Territory advocating for their rights and wellbeing since 1969
COTA NT is the Peak Body for seniors in the Northern Territory and is dedicated to promoting the well-being of senior Territorians aged 50 years and over. First incorporated in the Northern Territory in 1969, COTA NT has represented the interests of senior Territorians within the COTA movement across Australia for 50 years.
COTA NT’s role is to empower older people, those who work with them, government and the community into achieving well-being and social justice for older people. In consultation with its members, COTA NT provides a peak body for senior Territorians and sound policy advice to all levels of government. It maintains a strong NT policy council and ensures accessibility to senior Territorians. It promotes (and delivers) seniors’ activities including funded and non-funded programs, Seniors Expo and NT Seniors Month; and it takes a leading position in age discrimination with a positive staffing policy.
COTA NT sits on the Minister’s Advisory Council for Senior Territorians and connects with groups in the Territory and across Australia to bring about positive social change and continually raise awareness of the impact senior Australians make to Australian life.
