COTA NT (also known as Council on the Ageing NT) is the peak body for Seniors in the Northern Territory advocating for their rights and wellbeing since 1969
Pickleball is a paddle sport you can learn in minutes and play for a lifetime. Our group is about introducing the sport to Alice Springs and connecting with other community members. We welcome everyone to join and come along for some fun times.
Benefits
Initial skill development is a simple process and very soon you can be on the court playing a game.
Pickleball enables individuals of very different skill levels to play an enjoyable game together.
The low impact nature of pickleball both with movement around the court and the skills required to play means this is a perfect activity to try for those who want to be gentle on the body.
(NOTE: In the case of injury, it is always necessary to check with your physician before taking on a new activity).
The smaller size of the court means there is not as much running around. BUT you will still achieve an aerobic workout.
Pickleball is often recognised as one of the fastest growing sports worldwide.
It is the social nature of the sport which has been a central driver of this.
A game lasting 15 minutes includes a great deal of laughter, and social connectedness both on the court and off.
You can make this game as social or competitive as you want – the laughter remains.
